Frequently Asked Questions for Chi Machine

How does it work?

The Chi Machine simply oscillates from right to left, or left to right, approximately 144 times per minute in a figure-8 motion. This oscillation performs a pure aerobic activity and operates at the best speed to create an oxygen surplus in your body. The motion created by the Chi Machine stimulates and relaxes the sympathetic nervous system, which causes the bronchi and alveoli (tiny tubes which branch out from your lungs) to relax and expand. As these air tubes expand, more oxygen is able to pass from your lungs into your circulatory system, where it travels to all the cells in your body. As these air tubes expand, oxygen is able to pass from your lungs into your circulatory system, where it travels to all the cells in your body.

Will I feel anything?

Right after the treatment you will usually feel a tingling throughout your body. Depending on the energy, some people feel it in the feet while other feel it in the entire body.   If it’s only felt in the lower portion of your body, it may mean that one of the energy meridians in the body has a blockage. Using the Chi Machine more often usually helps to unblock the meridians allowing for more free flow of chi in the body.  Once the tingle can be felt throughout the body, the full effect of the Chi Machine is happening. Many people have to “work their way up” to being able to use the machine for longer periods of time.

What should I expect?

The treatments take anywhere from 8 to 15 minutes.  During the treatment, you are lying on your back with your feet slightly elevated.  Then, you just lie back and relax.  It’s a very passive treatment that is quite enjoyable.

Is it painful?

No.  The treatment is very relaxing and there is absolutely no pain.

How long is the session?

In the beginning, the sessions start out at 8 minutes.  Each session is longer, with 15 minutes being the session goal.  It depends on the person as to how fast this can be achieved.

When is the Chi Machine used?

The Chi Machine is mostly used just prior to going into the infrared sauna.  Since the Chi machine increases lymphatic drainage and oxygenation of the tissues, it is a perfect therapy to use prior to detoxing in the sauna as it will help to enhance the detox process.

However, it may also be used prior to any of the other therapies that are offered at the clinic, depending on the client’s needs.
