Pro Aging

We all want to look our best as we age, we get it! Let’s utilize a holistic approach to aging that makes the skin and face look and feel amazing AND works to boost the health of the body at the same time.

Natural and holistic therapies can work wonders for the health of the skin and all it’s many underlying layers.  The goal of any facial treatment should be to get the skin as healthy as possible, keeping it toned and happy so it looks and feels fabulous.  Natural therapies like cosmetic acupuncture, microcurrent, facial gua sha, facial cupping, LED light therapy, facial exercises, acupressure, facial massage and facial taping can work wonders to enhance the appearance and soften fine lines and wrinkles. These therapies can also encourage healthy collagen production and reveal an unbelievable complexion that radiates health.

Working with the face directly is obviously super important and can be address for sure with natural therapies, but we must also look at what is going on in the body, everything is connected. This is extremely important because what is happening in the body will be reflected on the face. As an example, if someone has deeper 11’s or crow’s feet, they may be prone to a Liver imbalance. If someone is having more bags or dark circles under the eyes, that tells us that they may have a Kidney imbalance or if someone is presenting with more sagging or poor facial tone, that usually corresponds to a Spleen imbalance. This is very general, but it gives an idea as to the clues a person’s face can tell us through a TCM perspective. With any of these issues, we must address the underlying issues within the body to ensure the best results for the facial area. It is all about balance.

Holistic skin treatments are are directly OPPOSITE to the most common procedures available for fine lines and wrinkles, which is Botox and fillers.

The Botox approach will inhibit healthy function of the muscle and skin. It reduces the wrinkles by causing paralysis in the muscle so it doesn’t work at all. So, if the muscle isn’t working, it isn’t pulling on the attached skin, which over time can form a wrinkle from repetitive movements. However, when the muscles are not working properly or when there is filler added to an area, stagnation can occur due to things not moving properly. Botox it is a neurotoxic protein (the same toxin that cause botulism) that prevents movement.

The Holistic approach will nourish and support healthy function of the muscle, skin and fascia, which leads to radiant and glowing skin.  By using a variety of holistic modalities to encourage healthy function, the muscles can learn to naturally relax which will lead to softer fine lines and wrinkles, the lymph and blood flow can improve for a brighter complexion, lax muscles can become toned for a tighter appearance, and collagen can be naturally promoted for a more youthful glow, all while working on underlying health issues contributing to what is visually happening on the face. Holistic therapies are a natural and pain free way to get nutrients and Qi moving.

We support women doing what they feel is right for them with absolutely no judgement at all. Everyone is unique so different things will resonate with different people. But, if you are thinking about starting Botox, we urge you to just try a holistic option first and see what you think, before going with a toxin.

Our goal at Striving for Health is to help women (and men) look their best naturally and support the aging process without toxins. By using a mix of holistic therapies, we can achieve the best results since each therapy works on a specific layer of the facial tissue, so together, they are amazing.  We LOVE our Signature Rejuvenating Facial Treatment since it includes it all!  But we also offer each therapy individually as well.

In addition to our holistic treatments in the office, we teach our clients how to improve their skin at home (between sessions) to enhance their treatment results by using facial exercises, facial stretching, acupoint stimulation, facial gua sha, facial cupping, facial taping and/or facial massage, depending on the client’s specific needs.

Knowledge is power, and there is a ton you can do at home to keep your skin looking fantastic!

Did you Know:

After the age of 20, a person produces about 1 percent less collagen in the skin each year.

As a result, the skin becomes thinner and more fragile with age.

When is the best time to come in?

Prevention is key!  We recommend coming in during your mid-30’s to ensure that your skin continues to look fabulous as you get older.  Prevention is easier than reversing.

However, many clients don’t discover holistic facial treatments until they are well into their 40’s, 50’s or 60’s.

We can work with any age to improve the skin’s texture and tone, soften fine lines and wrinkles, build collagen, improve the complexion, reduce puffiness, and support the overall health of the skin.

At Striving for Health we understand that every person is unique, which means their particular treatment needs will also differ. No one treatment is a good fit for everyone. We work with our clients to customize the best approach to address their specific needs.

We offer several different treatment options to support healthy aging:

If you are new to holistic facial treatments, we recommend starting with our 2 hour Signature Rejuvenating Facial Treatment.
